May 26, 2026
Houston, TX — Villa Sova Press, an independent publishing imprint, announces the upcoming release of its debut literary novel, Names Are Not Important by author and artist Jen Lee, scheduled for Fall 2026.
Names Are Not Important is an emotionally driven, language-focused novel that explores memory, connection, and the quiet spaces between what is said and what is felt. Told through a nontraditional structure, the novel examines the weight of unspoken moments and the lasting imprint of relationships over time.
Jen Lee’s work is known for its introspective tone and atmospheric style, often centering on what lingers beneath the surface of experience. This debut marks the first major release under Villa Sova Press, an imprint dedicated to publishing emotionally resonant and visually intentional work.
Lee lives between Houston, Texas and the Czech Republic, drawing inspiration from both environments and the contrasts between them.
Names Are Not Important will be available in Fall 2026.

This book feels different. Something that hasn't been on the shelves before. Was that intentional?
“Yes. It was written to be experienced a certain way—not just read. The structure, the pacing, even what’s left unsaid…
all of it was deliberate.”
It doesn’t follow a traditional form.
“No. It wasn’t meant to.
It came together in fragments, over time. I wasn’t interested in forcing it into something familiar if that meant losing what it was trying to do.”
What should readers expect going in?
“Not to be guided too much.
It asks for a different kind of attention. A slower one. One that allows things to surface instead of being explained.”
And what will they find if they stay with it?
“A kind of recognition.
Not because it tells them what something means—but because, at some point, they’ll already know.”
Jen Lee's Names Are Not Important plans to release this fall, by October 2026.

VILLA SOVA PRESS ANNOUNCES
OCTOBER 1 RELEASE OF JEN LEE’S NAMES ARE NOT IMPORTANT
HOUSTON, TX — Villa Sova Press announces the October 1, 2026 release of Names Are Not Important, a contemporary literary novel by author and creative Jen Lee.
Told in fragments that move between past and present, Names Are Not Important follows a woman trying to understand what remains of the people who have shaped her. Memory returns without order or permission. A place can become a person again. A sensation can collapse years. And the distance between who we were and who we have become is not always as great as we imagine.
At the center of the novel is a question of identity: what, if anything, belongs to us alone? As the narrator attempts to separate herself from the relationships, losses, beliefs, and experiences that formed her, she is forced to confront how deeply they have become part of who she is.
The novel’s unnamed characters and nontraditional structure remove many of the usual markers readers use to locate themselves within a story. Instead, identity emerges through experience, memory, language, and connection.
Lee approaches writing through a background in art and design, thinking about language visually and spatially through image, rhythm, texture, and form. Names Are Not Important reflects that approach in a novel built less around chronology than accumulation: the layers people leave behind and the ways they continue to shape us long after a moment has passed.
Names Are Not Important will be released October 1, 2026.

JEN LEE'S DEBUT LITERARY NOVEL, TOLD WITHOUT A SINGLE NAMED CHARACTER, ARRIVES OCTOBER 1 FROM VILLA SOVA PRESS.
September 27, 2026
HOUSTON, TX — Villa Sova Press announces the October 1 release of Names Are Not Important, the debut literary novel by Houston author Jen Lee.
Told without naming a single character, Names Are Not Important is a fragmented, nonlinear exploration of identity, memory, love, grief, and the experiences that accumulate into a life. Rather than introducing characters through names or conventional identifiers, the novel asks readers to encounter them through what they remember, carry, and leave behind.
"The premise of the novel was diving into identity without its fundamental piece," Lee says. "I wasn't interested in telling the reader who these people are. I wanted readers to experience them first. We attach so much to a name before a person has the chance to become anything else."
She continues, "When people are gone from our lives, what remains of them isn't usually a name. That's just a placeholder for whatever it is they leave behind. I was interested in excavating what it might take for a reader to forget about most of our identifiers by the end of the novel, and still become completely immersed in the story."
The novel's structure mirrors that idea. Memories recur, shift and resurface rather than resolving neatly, allowing meaning to emerge through accumulation. The result is a story less interested in explaining a life than examining how one is constructed — and what remains when the usual labels are stripped away.
As both author and artist in commercial design, Lee's creative process extends into the book's visual identity. She developed the cover and interior using typography, repetition and visual marks to echo the novel's preoccupation with identity, memory and residue.
Names Are Not Important will be published October 1, 2026, by Villa Sova Press in paperback, hardcover and ebook editions.
